Jeff Yeung / Dog Portrait Artist

Meet Jeff.

A dog portrait artist originally from Hong Kong and now based in the UK. He's a Dad to an extroverted girl and an introverted boy, and a husband to their perfect Mama. Jeff studied Visual Communication (graphic design) in university, but the longer he worked in the field, the more he realized his true passion was art. In 2021, Jeff and his family moved to the UK, where he decided to start something new. Although DOG ART wasn’t his plan A, his unexpected journey into this expressive and healing art form has become his true calling.

Ink speaks.

"A drawing is simply a line going for a walk." – Paul Klee

What makes Jeff's artistry truly unique is his daring approach: he forgoes the traditional pencil sketch beneath the final work. Instead, each creation begins with a deep breath and an unplanned dance of ink on paper. There's a certain magic in going freehand—no layers, no safety nets. It’s an adventure, a quest to capture the vibrant spirit of our most lively companions.

It started sad.

Jeff's dog art radiates with cheeriness, positive energy, and fun, but it began in a place of sadness. During a tough period, Jeff and his family had to rehome their beloved first dog, leaving everyone heartbroken and plunging Jeff into months of depression. For a while, the sight of any dog brought only painful memories. Then, one day, inspiration struck out of the blue. Jeff started drawing his neighbours’ dogs, and to his surprise, he loved it. Creating these portraits became a healing process, and soon enough, Jeff was producing dog art by the dozen.

It grows hope.

As Jeff's therapeutic journey continued, his body of work grew, prompting him to share his creations with the world. He was amazed to see his art bringing smiles to customers faces, and commissions soon followed. Some sought happy, silly portraits, while others wanted to remember their passed-away dogs. This art project transformed from therapy into a mission: to capture the timeless bond between dogs and their humans.
